October Ships (October 13 thru 31, 2024)

x

ALGOSOLIS (built 2009) downbound October 3, 2024.
(formerly sailed as ELI KNUTSEN)
One of the newest additions to the Algoma Fleet, ALGOSOLIS completes the trio of Sun, Earth and Moon. (along with fleetmates ALGOTERRA and ALGOLUNA).

BAIE COMEAU (built 2013) upbound October 6, 2024.
CSL's Trillium Class self unloader approaches Iroquois in the early evening, as seen from Old Lock 25.
(sister ship to WHITEFISH BAY, THUNDER BAY and BAIE ST. PAUL)

HANSEATIC INSPIRATION (built 2019) downbound October 13, 2024
German passenger excursion vessel, flying the flag of Malta, managed by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
After leaving the Seaway, she headed for South America.
(sister ship to HANSEATIC NATURE and HANSEATIC SPIRIT)

JUTLANDIA SWAN (built 2015) upbound October 13, 2024
Foreign tanker with previous name of MAREX NOA still visible on her bow.
Owned by Uni-Tankers out of Denmark, flying the flag of Malta.
At the time of writing, she had just arrived in Barranquilla, Columbia.

FEDERAL SHIMANTO (built 2001) downbound October 13, 2024
There's a certain look to these FedNav boats from the early-2000s, with a narrow superstructure and large bridge wings.
(sister ship to FEDERAL YOSHINO)

BLAIR MCKEIL (built 2010) downbound October 19, 2024
Early morning arrival for BLAIR MCKEIL at Iroquois.

ONEGO NEVA (built 2008) downbound October 19, 2024
(formerly sailed as LEANDRA, THORCO COBRA and MARMINDORO)
German-owned heavy-duty crane ship flagged out of Antigua & Barbuda.
After exiting the Seaway, she headed back across the Atlantic to Montoir, France.
She would cross the Ocean yet again, this time for the Dominican Republic.
(Other ships in the Onego fleet that have visited the Seaway are ONEGO MAAS and ONEGO DUERO)

POLSTEAM LEBSKO (built 2024) downbound October 19, 2024
One of three new vessels owned by Polska Zegluga Morska, better known as Polsteam or PZM of Poland.
(Other new Polsteam ships are POLSTEAM DABIE and POLSTEAM KOPROWO)
After heading out of the Seaway for Montreal, she was off to Brazil.
Polsteam has reportedly ordered a dozen new vessels that will enter service or otherwise be delivered between 2024-2026.

FEDERAL WISCONSIN (built 2024) downbound October 19, 2024
Another new FedNav ship on the Seaway (along with FEDERAL OHIO and FEDERAL INDIANA).

In addition to this trio, FedNav has three more Handy Size Lakers slated to enter service in 2024.

FRONTENAC (built 1967) downbound October 21, 2024
Always special to see FRONTENAC in this neck of the river.
Frequently travelling down from the Lakes as far as Johnstown (Ontario), today she's bound for Morrisburg with a cargo of salt. Just a handful of lake ships remain with the forward wheelhouse (and steering pole).

OAKGLEN (built 1980) upbound October 27, 2024
Just love the look of "Salty Laker" OAKGLEN (formerly FEDERAL DANUBE).
Of four sister vessels, she's the last one still sailing.
From this angle the stripes on her smokestack looks like oldschool CSL.

BBC ALBERTA (built 2007) upbound October 29, 2024
(formerly sailed as BELUGA MATURITY, BELUGA FIRMAMENT, BBC CELINA)
The BBC Crane ships have become a common sight on the Seaway.

GENERAL BROCK III spotted at Iroquois Marine Services (Iroquois, Ontario) on October 31, 2024.
She was out at least once earlier this season, in the spring.

"1000 Island Cruises" operates of Brockville , while the "Thousand Islander" tour boats of the "Ganonoque Boat Line" are out of Kingston.
