"I don't know where I'm going - But I sure know where I've been."
-Whitesnake
Been up and down the river hundreds of times from Lancaster to Kingston.
Taken thousands of snapshots over the decades.
Still so much to see...
Plenty of locations that deserve another visit. Need more photographs of the Lost Villages, Highway and Railway before all this stuff deteriorates completely.
Finally got inspired to start organizing all of this stuff for myself, and for anyone else who shares this fascination.
Was originally going to start from the beginning - But it seems easier to get some of the recent stuff down while it's still fresh.
So what's in my relatively organized pile?
In the near future: SHEEK ISLAND, EASTCLIFFE HALL, CAPTAIN HENRY JACKMAN, CANADA STEAMSHIP LINES FORT CLASS & BAY CLASS, OJIBWAY, DORAN POINT, GRAND TRUNK / CN RAILWAY, BERGIN ISLAND, SANTA CRUZ, WALES ISLAND...
The distant future: AULTSVILLE, ALGOMA INNOVATOR & INTREPID, DICKINSON'S LANDING, HOOPLE CREEK BRIDGE, MOULINETTE, MILLE ROCHES, MAPLE GROVE...
It's my hope that this collection of pages will NEVER be finished...
There's simply too much water to cover, so many hidden things waiting to be found.
Many of the Lost Villages and Hamlets I haven't even dipped into yet.
Old steam trains, canallers and sunken ships that are still "new" to me when I learn about them.
Bit by bit, I intend to document as much of this stuff as possible.
Sometimes even an obscure detail in an old photo can hold vital clues to piece together lost history.
Every mystery that gets solved generates (at least) two more questions to answer.
